Education

B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Young Harris College (3.82/4.00). Received May 2015. Pursuing degree at Emory University in Nursing (Starting Fall 2016).

Experience

I graduated from Young Harris College with a degree in Biology and Chemistry (3.82/4.0). My expertise lies in the sciences, though I am also great for studying other subjects as well. I will be attending nursing school at Emory University in the Fall of 2016, but I would love to help improve some understanding along the way! I used to lead study groups for introductory biology, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, comparative anatomy, anatomy and physiology, physics, and much more. Teaching others is the best way that I learn material, so I naturally love to teach others. It also helps keep my brain sharp! Courses that I have excelled in include: Honors Introductory Biology I & II, General Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, Microbiology, Honors Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Honors Statistics, Cell Biology, Genetics, Comparative Anatomy, College Physics I & II, Research Design, Immunology, Neuropharmacology, Conservation Biology, Plant Anatomy and Physiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introductory Psychology, Virology, Epigenetics, and Human Growth and Development. My research experience includes the creation of scientific posters, papers, and presentations. I am a learned public speaker (awarded for my public speaking in 2013), and I would love to help with any writing APA style or presenting scientifically. I have completed 5 research projects delving into population studies, species identification and measurement, catch and release tagging, isolation and analyzing of chemicals using a spectrophotometer and solid phase extraction manifold, the use of carcinogens to discover metabolic pathways of polycyclic aryl hydrocarbons, and more. Please ask me about my research because I love to talk about it! I am willing to teach to meet your own understanding of the material at your own pace. There are absolutely NO dumb questions. Please do not hesitate to contact me! I would love to answer some questions and get to know you before we meet for some 1 on 1 tutoring.

Hobbies

I am a 22 year old female with a strong interest in gaming (from PlayStation to PC). I have played Call of Duty professionally and currently spend way too much time at a screen. In my off hours, however, I spend a lot of time sketching, reading, and taking care of my German Shepherd puppy. Animals are very dear to me, and I have owned and loved my own horse. Having spent time abroad in Italy, I hope to travel a lot in the future. When I am not enjoying these activities, I volunteer at local retirement homes by sitting with the elderly, playing the piano for them, or participating in daily activities.
